With the Be Bold Girls program, we pride ourselves for providing the opportunity, channels, and platforms to enable young women and girls to become changemakers. To make changes happen, it requires dedication, commitment and significant time investment. We are committed to providing official recognition to our volunteers, ensuring that your hard work, compassion and contribution don’t go unnoticed. We are delighted to be able to offer our President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) through our certified non-profit organization Be Bold for Change.

requirements

  • What qualifies as volunteer work recognized by PVSA?
    Please check out the details through the PVSA website: https://presidentialserviceawards.gov/eligibility#volunteers
  • Who is qualified for PVSA through Be Bold Girls program?
    You must be a United States citizen or lawful permanent resident of the United States (i.e. green card holder) AND You have signed up to be a Be Bold Girls member and have completed eligible service within a 12-month period according to the table below.
  • What if I cross age groups during the application year? Which age group do I qualify?
    The age group is determined by the age you were for at least 7 months within the application year cycle. For example, if you were 16 for 7 months within the application year cycle July 1st 2022 to June 30th 2023, then you would qualify within the 16-25 age group.
  • What is the President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA)? How does it work?
    The President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) is the premier volunteer awards program, encouraging citizens to live a life of service through presidential gratitude and national recognition.   • Hours required to earn awards in each age group?
    The awards are offered in multiple levels in different age groups and are designed to recognize each milestone of your service achievement. We will offer awards at levels of bronze, silver, and gold depending on your accumulated service hours within each calendar year from July 1st to June 30th. If you contribute more than 4,000 hours of service in your lifetime, you may be granted the President's Lifetime Achievement Award. LIFETIME ACHIEVMENT AWARD: Individuals who have completed 4,000 or more hours in their lifetime
  • What about service hours outside Be Bold Girls program?
    Be Bold Girls honors your volunteer hours at other nonprofit organizations, community-based organizations and schools. For PVSA through the Be Bold Girls program, 70% of your required volunteer hours must come from activities directly contributing to the Be Bold Girls program. The service hours outside the Be Bold Girls program require an extra verification step: you need to obtain signature from the contact person at the respective organization. Be Bold Girls relies on the organization to verify service hours according to their rules and regulations. It also requires that the volunteer is not paid for the service and the service efforts are not court-ordered. application process

  • The officially approved-volunteer-hours log from your school district can be the substitute for this form.  

​

​

  • Between July 16 - 31, the Be Bold Girls PVSA Committee will review the application and will then notify parents of the students who are eligible to receive the PVSA award to sign the parent agreement. Then the committee will order and distribute the PVSA awards during the month of August.  

​

  • Be Bold Girls program will cover the cost for the PVSA award.
